Eden Lost; Paradise Gained
June 25, 2017 Series: Preaching Christ from Genesis
Topic: Christianity Explored Passage: Genesis 2:4–3:24
God's wrath is His characteristic, steady, reliable reaction to sin and rebellion among men. Yet, He never fails in some way or another to "remember mercy." When it comes to His sons and daughters, He disciplines those He loves.... in discipline, remember love! That's like Father!
Title: Eden Lost; Paradise Gained
Text: Genesis 2:4-3:24
Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:1-22
Theme: "God’s judgment is tempered by God’s grace.
Our text - our 'narrative unit' has clear bookends: Man gets placed in Eden - Man gets kicked out of Eden.
Yet throughout this tragic narrative we can trace the hopeful theme: "In banishing His rebellious creatures from His presence in the earthly paradise, the LORD still extends His grace in many ways, creating hope of a future, eternal Paradise."
Makes us think of Hab. 3:2 “LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, LORD. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.”
