Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

Proverbs 27:17

At Emmanuel we believe that our efforts to disciple men are best spent when we seek to equip them for leadership in the home and in the church. It is true that not every man will hold an office in the church nor that every man will become a father or a husband, but we do believe that the leadership principles found in the Bible are applicable to all men.

The discipleship of men comes in all shapes and sizes at Emmanuel. At times it looks like formal events/gatherings such as Bible studies, book studies, men’s fellowships, and men’s retreats. And at other times it looks like two men getting together to sharpen each other in truth and help direct one another towards Christ. The form isn’t as important as the content. What matters most is that our men are being equipped by the word of God to become faithful followers of Christ in the home and in the church. True discipleship is a result of word-centered, Christ-honoring relationships. Therefore, whether it’s a men’s fellowship or a one-on-one meeting, we encourage our men to search the Scriptures and treasure Christ above all things.
